Residency & Eligibility Requirements
Residency & Eligibility Requirements for Curling Canada events not including the Tournament of Hearts or Brier
Mixed
All four (4) players must be Canadian citizens and residents of the same Provincial / Territorial Member Association. No age restrictions. Because the national championship is played the following season, players must be residents in the year of their provincial/territorial championship victory.
Curling Club Championships – Men & Women
All four (4) players must be residents of the same Provincial / Territorial Member Association. Three (3) of the four (4) players must be a minimum of nineteen (19) years of age and older on November 1st prior to the year of the championship. There are no citizenship requirements.
Junior Men & Women (Under-20)
All four (4) players must be Canadian citizens and residents of the same Provincial / Territorial Member Association attending school full-time in the jurisdiction of the Provincial/ Territorial Member Association, and meet the following age requirements for upcoming championships.
2021
Minimum of 3 and maximum of 4 players: less than 21 years of age on June 30, 2021
Born: July 1, 2000 or later
Overage: 1 player can be born between July 1, 1999 – June 30, 2000
2022
Minimum of 3 and maximum of 4 players: less than 21 years of age on June 30, 2022
Born: July 1, 2001 or later
Overage: 1 player can be born between July 1, 2000 – June 30, 2001
2023
Minimum of 3 and maximum of 4 players: less than 21 years of age on June 30, 2023
Born: July 1, 2002 or later
Overage: 1 player can be born between July 1, 2001 – June 30, 2002
2024
4 players: less than 21 years of age on June 30, 2024
Born: July 1, 2003 or later
* No overage players
Senior Men & Women
All four (4) players must be Canadian citizens and residents of the same Provincial / Territorial Member Association and aged fifty (50) years of age or over on June 30th in the year of the championship.
Mixed Doubles
Member Association teams
Both players must be Canadian citizens and residents of the same Provincial / Territorial Member Association. Age restrictions may vary from association to association.
All other teams
Must be Canadian citizens and residents of Canada. No age restrictions.
Under-18 Boys & Girls
All four (4) players must be residents of the same Provincial / Territorial Member Association and seventeen (17) years of age and under on June 30th of the year prior to the championship. No citizenship requirements.
Wheelchair
All four (4) players must be residents of the same Provincial / Territorial Member Association. No age restrictions and no citizenship requirements.
Masters Men & Women
All four (4) players must be residents of the same Provincial / Territorial Member Association and sixty (60) years of age or older on December 31st the year prior to the championship. No citizenship requirements.
Canada Cup
All four (4) players must be Canadian citizens. No age restrictions and no residency requirements.
Pre-Trials & Trials
All four (4) players must be Canadian citizens. No age restrictions and no residency requirements.
Mixed Doubles Trials
Both players must be Canadian citizens. No age restrictions and no residency requirements
