Joe Gurowka of Mississauga, Ontario is one of those rare people who has not only succeeded on the ice in curling, but has also played a major role in the curling boardroom.
Gurowka was first heard from at the 1966 Brier when he missed an opportunity in an extra playoff to upset Ron Northcott of Calgary. Gurowka skipped one more Ontario appearance at the Brier in 1976. In 1986, he captured the first for Earle Hushagen. Gurowka also won the Canadian Seniors Championships in 1989 and 1992 playing second for Jim Sharples. Gurowka was also a Canadian Masters champion in 2000.
Joe held a number of curling executive positions from 1975 until 1994 including president of the Toronto Curling Association, the Ontario Curling Association, the Canadian Curling Association and the Ontario Curling Federation. Also active in the Curl Canada program since its inception, he is a certified level III instructor.
