Biography / Biographie:
Ted Thonger of Calgary was a dedicated builder of the sport of curling for more than 20 years. He was one of the original curling entrepreneurs, an inventor and curling media advocate. Among his greatest accomplishments was the development of the Rink Rat synthetic curling broom and plastic curling surcles or rings. It was Thonger’s foresight as a publisher that resulted in the birth of Canadian Curling News. He was ahead of his time in identifying a need among Canada’s curlers for a specialized publication about the sport. In 1999, Canadian Curling News celebrated it’s 42nd year of publication.
