Biography / Biographie:
Ross Harstone of Hamilton, Ontario was inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 1974 in the builder category. His name lives on today in the form of the annual trophy given to the Brier participant who, as voted by his peers, best represents high ideals of good sportsmanship, observance of the rules, exemplary conduct and curling ability.
Harstone contributed to the sport as a president of the Hamilton Curling Club, the Ontario Curling Association and the Dominion Curling Association (the predecessor of the Canadian Curling Association), and was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Macdonald Brier. At the time of his death in 1964, he chaired the Dominion Curling Association’s rules committee.
