Undefeated heading to playoffs!

Team Canada racks up perfect record in round robin of the 2025 World Wheelchair Mixed Doubles Curling Championship
Ina Forrest (Spallumcheen, B.C.) and Mark Ideson (London, Ont.) finish the round robin at the 2025 World Wheelchair Mixed Doubles Curling Championship with a perfect 6-0 record after two wins on Friday.
Team Canada beat Team Latvia 9-3 in the first game of the day and overcame Team Denmark 9-4 shortly after.
Forrest and Ideson now look toward the playoffs for their shot at securing a gold medal and enough Paralympic qualification points to secure Canada’s place in the mixed doubles event.
“It felt like quite a bit of pressure starting this championship because we were here to get a job done,” said Forrest after the win against Team Latvia. “But we’ve played well this week, so it’s taking some pressure off. Today, getting the Q (for playoff qualification) was a big pressure relief, but we’re still taking it one game at a time.”
Team Canada had another great game against Team Latvia on Friday and kept it to only six ends. The Canadian power play once again resulted in big numbers on the scoreboard, with Canada scoring five in the fifth end.
In the fourth end, the Latvians had set up three before Ideson cleared two away and kept Team Latvia to only one point.
Similarly, in Canada’s game against Team Denmark, Ideson made a brilliant come-around freeze facing three Danish stones on his last shot to secure the team’s victory, and its perfect record in the round robin.
“All the learning we did during the game helped me to figure out the weight we could throw there,” said Ideson after his win-clinching shot against Team Denmark. “Luckily there was a pile of catchers behind the T-line to draw to, so it was nice to see it curl in there.”
On Saturday, Team Canada heads to the quarterfinals at 6 a.m. Eastern. Its opponent won’t be known until round-robin play is completed in the other pools later Friday.
