World Wheelchair Mixed Doubles!

2025 World Wheelchair Mixed Doubles Championship begins Tuesday
Team Canada is one of 21 countries with its sights set on a spot at the 2026 Milano Cortina Paralympic Games through earning final qualification points from the 2025 World Wheelchair Mixed Doubles Championship in Stevenston, Scotland, starting Tuesday.
The event takes place from March 11-16 at the Auchenharvie Leisure Centre following the 2025 World Wheelchair (four player) Curling Championship.
Canada is currently seventh in the Paralympic qualification standings, with only seven spots remaining as the host nation, Italy, already qualifies. Qualification points are awarded at the 2023, 2024, and 2025 World Wheelchair Mixed Doubles Curling Championships. Canada’s Mixed Doubles team consists of Ina Forrest (Spallumcheen, B.C.) and Mark Ideson (London, Ont.).
Ideson takes the international ice for the 13th time representing Canada, highlighted by a gold medal at the 2014 Paralympic Games and bronze medals in 2018 and 2022.
Forrest is one of the world’s most decorated wheelchair curlers, named to the national team in 2006. Her participation at the 2026 Milano Cortina Games would mark her 20th year wearing the Maple Leaf and aiming to add another medal to her already impressive collection of two gold and two bronze Paralympic medals for Canada.
Forrest and Ideson are supported by head coach Dana Ferguson, team leader Kyle Turcotte, physiotherapist Sari Shatil, and team physician Dr. Gordon Ngo.
The team’s first game will be on March 11 against Team Italy, who finished third in the 2024 World Wheelchair Mixed Doubles Championship in South Korea. The Team Canada schedule is as follows:
