Eyes on Guelph!
Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Trials berth up for grabs beginning Thursday at Guelph, Ont.
Twenty-five of Canada’s finest mixed doubles curling tandems will take to the ice beginning Thursday in hopes of securing a direct berth into the 2025 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Trials at Liverpool, N.S., set for Dec. 30, 2024, to Jan. 4, 2025.
The qualifier event, which is the second of three qualifying events for the Mixed Doubles Trials, will run from Nov. 21 – 24, 2024 at the Guelph Curling Club, Ont.
Team Tran/Kleiter (Calgary/Saskatoon) claimed the first available qualifying event berth after a winning performance at Maple Ridge, B.C., earlier this month, while the third and final qualifying event will take place at Banff, Alta., Dec. 5-8, 2024.
The qualifier event format will be triple knockout with 8 qualifiers. The 8-team championship round will be a single knockout competition and teams are seeded in the triple knockout preliminary round using 2023/24 CMDR ranking.
And while the Mixed Doubles Trials berth is the true prize, the event also boasts a $25,000 purse; seeing the winners take home $6,500, while the runners-up win $4,500. Semifinalists will earn $3,000 and quarterfinalists cash $2,000, respectively.
The event final is set for Sunday at 3 p.m., (all times Eastern).
