First of Three Mixed Doubles Olympic Trials Qualifier Events begins Thursday

The road towards Olympic dreams for 25 of Canada’s top Mixed Doubles curling teams begins Thursday, with the first of three Mixed Doubles Olympic Trials Qualifier events getting underway at Maple Ridge, B.C.

And though 25 teams may enter the event, slated to run Oct. 31 – Nov. 3, 2024, at the Golden Ears Winter Club, only one will earn a guaranteed berth into the 2025 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Trials, set for Dec. 30, 2024 – Jan. 5, 2025, at Liverpool, N.S.

The qualifier event had originally been planned for Abbotsford, B.C., before an issue with the facility’s ice plant felled the Abbotsford hosts. In a wonderful display of community however, the good folks at the Golden Ears Winter Club stepped up and volunteered to take on the event at the eleventh-hour.

The final will go Sunday at 3 p.m., (all times Pacific).

The two remaining Mixed Doubles Trials qualifier events are scheduled for Guelph, Ont., Nov. 21-25, 2024, and Banff, Alta., Dec. 5-8, 2024.
