Moncton and Brandon hosting U-21 Mixed Doubles East & West Qualifiers

Curl Moncton and the Brandon Curling Club will host regional events that will determine the teams competing at the inaugural 2025 Canadian Under-21 World Mixed Doubles Qualifier, it was announced today by Curling Canada.

Event details:

  • East qualifier: Curl Moncton, New Brunswick – Nov. 25-30, 2024
  • West qualifier: Brandon Curling Club, Manitoba – Nov. 26-Dec. 1, 2024

Eight mixed doubles teams will advance from the two qualifier events – four from the east and four from the west – to compete at the 2025 Canadian Under-21 World Mixed Doubles Qualifier, scheduled for March 16-21 in Summerside, P.E.I., alongside the 2025 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship.

The regional qualifying events are the first step in Canada’s world junior mixed doubles qualification plan, which will determine the first-ever duo to represent the nation at the 2025 World Junior Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, scheduled at the Saville Community Sports Centre in Edmonton from May 6-11, 2025.

Event registration is on a first-come-first-served basis and goes live on Aug. 22 at noon (all times ET) through Sept. 6 at noon and will include a $200 event registration fee. Both qualifier events can accommodate up to 48 teams each.

All athletes must be 20 years of age or less as of June 30, 2024, and can only enter one qualifier event. Team composition is flexible, and athletes can form teams across provincial and territorial boundaries to ensure they all have opportunities to assemble the best teams possible and not restricted due to geographical boundaries. All athletes must be Canadian citizens.
