Curling Day in Canada success!
Curling Canada announces winners of 2024 Curling Day in Canada contests
Curling Day in Canada 2024 once again brought our country together in celebration of our sport and gave people the opportunity to tell their stories of how curling has positively impacted their lives.
Some of those stories were told on TSN’s special Curling Day in Canada broadcast, which you can still see by CLICKING HERE.
And just as importantly, Curling Day in Canada, which was recognized on Feb. 24 in curling centres across the nation, saw two contest winners decided:
Story Contest Winner Amanda Bulger
There were numerous worthy entries, but Amanda’s story of how curling helped her overcome her shyness and make new connections through volunteering stood out. You can read her winning story by CLICKING HERE.
Amanda, of Summerside, P.E.I., wins an all-expenses-paid closing weekend trip for four to the 2025 Montana’s Brier in Kelowna, B.C.!
Big Shootout Curling facility $5,000 grant winner — RE/MAX Centre/St. John’s Curling Club
For the second straight year, it was a club from Newfoundland/Labrador capturing the $5,000 grant after winning the Big Shootout, following in the footsteps of the Corner Brook Curling Club’s 2023 triumph.
The contest sees how many draws to the button club members can make in a 30-minute span, and players at the RE/MAX Centre were clearly on target. You can see their winning performance by CLICKING HERE. Forty-two clubs participated in the 2024 Big Shootout.
The hashtag – #CurlingDayinCanada – received some 15 million impressions during the day, while the TSN broadcast of the Curling Day in Canada special attracted more than 569,000 viewers.
Melfort, Sask., hosted the 2024 Curling Day in Canada festival and packed the local arena and curling club throughout the day. More than 1,500 attended the events and an estimated 270 people curled. The local organizing committee raised roughly $50,000 in support of curling in the community.
Lock down Feb. 22 to celebrate Curling Day in Canada 2025!
