New Brunswick skip Sylvie Robichaud from Curling Beausejour in Moncton leads the pack at the Canadian Mixed in Sudbury. Robichaud reeled off three consecutive wins Saturday to lead the field alone at 3-0. In round 3, Robichaud dispatched Yukon’s Scott Hamilton 11-3 highlighted by a score of five in the 6th end.
There are four teams with two wins and no losses: Quebec (Martin Ferland) and Ontario (Mark Homan) who had the evening byes, Saskatchewan by virtue of Jason Ackerman’s defeat of Nova Scotia’s Chris Sutherland 9-2, and Northern Ontario’s Mike Assad from Thunder Bay who dropped BC’s Doug Marshall 9-3.
PEI’s Brett Gallant survived a three game day with two wins including the evening defeat of Alberta’s Kurt Balderston 7-3. The 2009 World Junior silver medalist stands at 2-1.
Keeping pace are 2009 Canadian Mixed champion Sean Grassie of Manitoba who crushed Newfoundland & Labrador’s Gary Alcock 9-3 and Alberta. Grassie and Balderston are both 1-1.
Rounding out the standings are NL’s Alcock, Steve Moss of NWT, Sutherland of Nova Scotia, Sattelberger of Nunavut, BC’s Marshall and Yukon’s Hamilton. All are winless at 0-2.
Besides Quebec and Ontario, both NWT and Nunavut had evening byes.

Draws continue throughout the week at the Sudbury Curling Club with game times each day – Saturday, November 12 to Thursday, November 17 – at 10:00 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The final draw is Friday, November 18th at 9:00 a.m. followed by playoffs leading to the championship final Saturday, November 19th at 1:30 p.m. (all times Eastern).
