The Sherwood Park Curling Club (SPCC) is now accepting applications for the Head Ice Technician for the 2025-26 season. Our 8 sheet facility, situated in the Glen Allan Recreation Complex (GARC) in Sherwood Park, Alberta, offers a unique opportunity for the right candidate to join an innovative team dedicated to operating in a modernized curling facility.The Strathcona County multi – sport complex was revitalized in 2016 with a new concrete floor for the curling rink along with a modernized locker room, Pro shop, lounge and viewing gallery. New curling stones and R/O system were acquired in the past 5 years.

SPCC is an active curling club with 950 + members and is committed to providing a memorable curling experience for curlers of all levels. Our season runs from the end of September to the end of March including 18 weekly leagues with 4 weekly programs, 3 yearly SPCC bonspiels plus corporate special events, clinics and Curling Alberta events. The SPCC is proud to have recently hosted the 2024 Curling Canada RockFest West and be named the curling club of the year by Curling Alberta in 2019.

Reporting to the Business Manager, the successful applicant is responsible to ensure that the ice-making component is operated efficiently, safely, and effectively from August 25, 2025 to April 10, 2026. The Ice Technician is responsible for the day-to-day ice operations ensuring high quality playing conditions. S/He will establish and maintain a positive working relationship with the Business Manager, Board of Executives, staff, club members, visitors and the community at large.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Ice installation & daily maintenance
Recruitment, training, and scheduling of ice staff
Minor facilities maintenance and repair as needed
Removal of ice and proper storage of rocks & equipment

Skills and Attributes:
Level 2 Ice Technician Certification or higher
Customer service focused
Strong interpersonal skills
Works well with minimal direction and positive results

Salary: Competitive wage scale based on experience
