Job Description
The General Manager is the chief operating officer of the Club, responsible to the Board of Directors for the successful operation and development of the Club. He/She/They consistently provides a high level of service to the membership in all Club activities. This is a full-time position in which the time commitment may potentially include weekdays, evenings, and weekends during our peak curling season: August – April. The work arrangement, between May – July, tends to be flexible in order to offset the higher demands of our peak curling season. The Manager is responsible to the Board for interpreting and applying policies for controlling department activities and for conducting public relations.

Duties
• Promotes a culture aligned to the Calgary Curling Club’s (CCC) values, purpose, and strategies
• Develops an environment that aligns values and behaviours that promote diversity and inclusion
• Implements innovative business development strategies in order maximize revenues, sales, stakeholder satisfaction, and minimizing operational costs
• Is accountable to develop, maintain, and grow revenue/finances in order to maintain the going concern of the CCC
• Need to drive financial performance of the club, through revenue generation, cost cutting, and innovation
• Manages the day-to-day operations of the CCC and its respective facility
• Establishes definitive goals, sets clear outcomes, and demonstrates accountability by following through
• Fosters a collaborative workforce, across functional groups, in order to create value for all stakeholders
• Recruits, develops, and retains talent
• Develops employees, recognizes/rewards, and supports/coaches employees
• Drives and maintains a network within the community in order to develop the CCC’s visibility to source new members, sponsorship, grants, and business opportunities
• Is responsible for leagues, bonspiels, ice/room rentals, sponsorships, grants, inventory, kitchen, bar, and staffing
• Develops and maintains a positive relationship with members, stakeholders, other curling clubs, Curl Alberta, and the City of Calgary
• Adheres to the CCC bylaws and policies/procedures as established by the Board
• Complies with all provincial/federal regulations that could include, but not limited to, COVID protocols, gaming, liquor, cannabis, Work Safe Alberta, etc.

Qualifications
• Generally, 5- 10 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Previous supervisory or management experience
• Experienced/Versed in worker safety requirements
• Personable individual with strong public relation techniques
• Growth mindset – An ability to challenge the status quo and to capitalize on new opportunities
• Financial/Accounting experience – Recordkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and budgeting
• Preference given to candidates experienced with curling and working within the non-profit sector
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Analytical and problem-solving skills

Renumeration
• Salaried + Variable Compensation (Tied to achieving established performance metrics/outcomes)
